Basic Camping Needs

A fairly new way of camping has risen; camping in a premade cabin. These cabins run from rustic, with just a bed or two through completely furnished with everything you will need except your personal items and food. They can be located remotely on a mountain side or among a string of other cabins in a commercial campground. Using a cabin will give a first time camper a feel for the camping adventure while still enjoying the security of 4 walls.

• The nine basic items

Primitive cabin camping requires some special needs to set yourself up for a relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable time. You will not have access to a shower or restroom in your cabin while primitive camping. There may or may not be a cot or bunk bed so come prepared to sleep on the floor. These cabins are one room. There may be a community bath house with restrooms (you will need to supply your own toilet paper and towels) and a shower available to you. A small broom and dust bin will help you keep your foot dirt from migrating into cabin. You will need to bring all the necessities needed as if you were sleeping in a tent.

• Broom

Cabins with partial amenities will supply you with electricity, beds (generally 2, 2-4 or larger accommodations) which could be bunk, doubles or both. Some cabins may have a separate sleeping quarters or be called a two room cabin. These cabins may have cooking quarters with a stove, refrigerator and generally a table or picnic table outside for eating. The bathroom/shower will be in a community area and not housed in your cabin. Beds will need the linens or sleeping bags and you will need to supply all towels and paper goods (paper towels, toilet paper, etc.). If there is a kitchen, the kitchen will not be equipped with cooking utensils so you must bring in what you will needed to prepare your meals. Heat/air are generally not included in partial amenities cabins.

• Broom

 

Cabins with full amenities are the luxury cabins. These cabins come complete with every thing you will need except your personal belongings. The kitchen is equipped with dishes, pots, pans, coffee maker, toaster, oven, refrigerator, etc. The bathroom is also equipped with towels and the beds come with linens. You can rent a one bedroom or more depending on the size of your camping party. These cabins are heated/cooled to your satisfaction. Your only needs will be to stock the refrigerator, cupboards, unpack and enjoy!
